ICSI CSEET July 2023: Revised Exam Date and Shift to Online Format

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) recently made changes to the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) for July 2023. The exam date was rescheduled from July 8 to July 30, and a significant modification was introduced by conducting the exam online using remote proctoring. Guidelines were also issued for candidates appearing in the exam, specifying that they can utilize their personal laptops or desktops for the test, while mobile phones, tablets, and palmtops are prohibited.

Eligibility Criteria and Exam Structure

To be eligible for the CSEET, candidates must have successfully passed the 10+2 (Senior Secondary Examination) conducted by a recognized examining body in India, or an equivalent examination recognized by the Central or State Government for admission to a Bachelor’s degree course. The viva voce portion has been eliminated from the CSEET. The exam will have a duration of 120 minutes (two hours) and will comprise four multiple-choice question (MCQ) based papers. Each paper will consist of 35 questions carrying 50 marks, totaling 140 questions. Paper 4 will be divided into two sections: Part A, with 15 questions related to current affairs, and Part B, with 20 questions assessing Presentation and Communication skills.

Login Procedure and Exam Protocol

Candidates are required to log in to the exam portal 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and will not be permitted to enter after 15 minutes from the commencement of the exam. The entire examination must be completed within 90 minutes. The question paper will be available only in English. In order to pass the CSEET, candidates need to score a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and achieve an aggregate of 50% across all papers. Negative marking will not be applicable for incorrect answers. The exam will be proctored remotely by a control room, and candidates will receive login details through email and SMS prior to the test. Before starting the exam, candidates must present their Admit Card and a valid ID proof (such as PAN, Aadhar, or any government-approved ID) for verification by the proctor. Candidates are required to follow the proctor’s instructions and click on the “Appear” button as directed. Any queries or concerns about the examination should be clarified with the proctor before the exam begins, as no further assistance will be provided once the exam is in progress. Candidates will have the flexibility to modify their answer key or selected options until the conclusion of the exam or before clicking on the finish button.
