IIT Guwahati signs MoU with the Indian Council of World Affairs

The main objective of this MoU is to work together in pursuit of their goal of expanding awareness and knowledge on international affairs and Indian foreign policy.

On July 19, 2023, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) and the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the main objective of enhancing expertise in international affairs and foreign policy.

 

The MoU, inked by Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, and Ambassador Vijay Thakur Singh, Director-General of ICWA, aims to jointly work towards expanding awareness and knowledge on international affairs and Indian foreign policy. The collaboration between the two institutions will be valid for a duration of 3 years.

 

During the signing event, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges and opportunities in today’s interconnected world. He highlighted that the partnership between IIT Guwahati and ICWA will be a crucial step towards achieving the shared vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

 

The expected outcomes of this collaboration include the intellectual development of stakeholders in universities, academic institutions, industries, and other partners in Assam regarding international affairs and Indian foreign policy. Additionally, the two organizations will undertake joint studies on mutually agreed-upon topics of common interest.

 

The collaboration was announced by the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the President of the Indian Council of World Affairs, during his address at the 25th Convocation of IIT Guwahati. The Vice President expressed his belief that this partnership will provide the institute with valuable exposure to the world in a different dimension.
