IIT Kharagpur’s Impressive Ranking in QS Asia World University Rankings 2024: Fifth Among Indian Institutes

The QS Asia World University Rankings 2024 positions the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur at fifth place among Indian institutions, securing the 59th position overall in the continent. Released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the rankings encompass several Indian institutes, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and the University of Delhi, with a total of 148 Indian institutions represented.

IIT Kharagpur proudly joins the top 7% in the QS Asia University Rankings, achieving an impressive overall score of 54.5. Noteworthy performance in categories such as international research network, papers per faculty, employer and academic reputation, and staff members holding PhDs contributes to its ranking.

Director of IIT Kharagpur, VK Tewari, emphasizes the institute’s commitment to elevating global standards through advancements in manufacturing systems, transportation, safety engineering, analytics, healthcare, agriculture, and smart infrastructure, aligning with the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Meanwhile, IIT Bombay maintains its top position in India, and China retains its leading position in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2024. The rankings consider ten indicators, including academic and employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, international relations network, citations per paper, and staff qualifications, reflecting the diverse aspects of educational excellence.
