IIT Roorkee GNEC hosts institutional ‘Indo-German Partnership Workshop’

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) recently hosted the “Indo-German Partnership Workshop” at its Greater Noida Center (GNEC) on October 13, 2023. This workshop aimed to foster scientific cooperation and strengthen the bonds between Indian and German institutions, focusing on the theme “Bridging Horizons: Indo-German Scientific Collaboration at IIT Roorkee.”

  1. **German Excellence: Unveiling Scientific Opportunities:** This session provided a platform for prominent German stakeholders, universities, and funding agencies, including DAAD and IGSTC, to showcase their research domains and expectations from Indian institutes for reinforcing collaboration.

 

  1. **IIT Roorkee – Forging Pathways to Strengthen Cooperation:** This session emphasized IIT Roorkee’s research capabilities and its role in promoting scientific collaboration between Indian and German institutions.

 

The workshop facilitated in-depth discussions on the internationalization of higher education and research collaborations between the two countries, highlighting the remarkable increase in student and young researcher exchanges between India and Germany over recent years.

The workshop featured notable participants from IIT Roorkee, the Department of Science & Technology (Government of India), and distinguished representatives from German institutions. Dr. S K Varshney, Adviser and Head of International Cooperation, Department of Science & Technology, emphasized the growth in scientific cooperation and the Indo-German Research Training Group initiative, which strengthens bilateral collaboration.
