UGC Zonal Committee Conference at Maharaj Sayajirao University to Discuss NEP Implementation

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a significant step to assist universities in effectively implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by establishing five zonal committees. These committees span the northern, northeastern, eastern, western, southern, and central regions and consist of vice-chancellors representing central, state, private, and deemed universities. On October 26, 2023, the Maharaj Sayajirao University of Baroda in Gujarat will host the inaugural conference focused on the implementation of NEP 2020 for the Western Zone. The conference will run from 9 am to 5 pm.

Recognizing the substantial importance of this conference to all stakeholders, the UGC encourages universities and colleges to participate in the live stream, benefiting faculty, students, and staff.

The Western Zone vice-chancellors’ conference will be accessible via live streaming on various platforms, including Vande Gujarat Channel No. 1, Facebook.com/TheMSUBaroda, and Conferencewz.gujgov.edu.in.

The UGC’s decision to establish these zonal committees is rooted in the goal of realizing the vision of NEP 2020 and ensuring that its advantages reach a broad spectrum of aspirational youth within a specified timeframe. This initiative intends to guide universities in creating a strategic plan for the effective execution of significant NEP initiatives.

NEP 2020 is founded on five fundamental principles: accessibility, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability. Its objective is to prepare young individuals to face the diverse challenges of both the current and future global and national landscapes.
