After completing the programme, learners will be able to play decisive roles in addressing the environmental and sustainability concerns in India and across the world
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has recently launched the Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies program, which will be available from the July 2023 session onwards. The objective of this program is to address the environmental challenges that arise from human activities and to cultivate a knowledgeable workforce in various fields such as climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, biodiversity conservation, resource management, forest and wildlife conservation, and sustainable development.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies program aims to raise awareness about a wide range of environmental issues. It also offers lateral entry to students who have completed an MA in Environmental Studies, and it promotes the concept of “Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE).” Upon successful completion of the program, learners will be prepared to take on crucial roles in tackling environmental and sustainability concerns not only in India but also globally.
Through this program, learners will develop the necessary skills to restore, protect, and sustain the environment while recognizing the interconnectedness of its various components. They will gain valuable insights into assessing environmental conditions, proposing sustainable solutions, and contributing to the formulation of appropriate policies for environmental planning and sustainable development.
