According to a report, in 2022 alone, nearly 750,000 Indians pursued their studies overseas, which is a significant rise from 450,000 in 2017 and 260,000 in 2020. This trend is not limited to metropolitan cities; Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India are also witnessing more students aspiring to pursue higher education abroad.
Factors such as rankings, location, scholarships, affordability, and the presence of an Indian community influence students’ decisions in different ways based on their geographical locations and preferences. In Tier One cities, rankings, location, and scholarships are influential factors. Scholarships play a vital role in making studying abroad more accessible and feasible by removing financial barriers. Universities offer scholarships ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 40,000 at the undergraduate level. They can greatly strengthen academic and professional goals.
- PROGRAMME COST:
The cost of higher education is a significant concern for students considering studying abroad. Tuition costs vary among institutions, and living expenses, travel, and insurance costs differ between countries and locations. Students must ensure that they explore options that align with their budgets for a positive and successful overseas experience.
Apart from these pivotal factors, students also consider the prospects available in the country after completing their education and the ranking of the university they are interested in attending. Peer groups can also influence a student’s decision about a university.
