Schools in Delhi to remain closed till Sunday amid flood-like situation

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has ordered all the schools, colleges, and government offices for non-essential services to remain closed till July 16.

On July 13, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority issued a directive to close all schools, colleges, and government offices for non-essential services in Delhi until July 16. This decision was made due to the flooding caused by the overflow of the Yamuna River in various parts of the national capital.

During a meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal informed that over 20,000 individuals have been relocated to relief camps thus far. Currently, there are 50 boats deployed for rescue operations, and more will be added if necessary.

Kejriwal stated that “All schools, colleges, and universities are being closed till Sunday,” as reported by PTI. In order to address the challenges faced by people in the relief camps, the chief minister announced plans to shift them to school buildings that have appropriate toilet facilities.

Additionally, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida are also closed on July 14. The recent monsoon rains in northern India have caused significant damage, including waterlogging, road collapses, collapsed homes, and severe traffic congestion.
